Backend Java developer

I work on Java and Spring Boot systems in a FinTech environment. When something breaks, I reproduce it, collect evidence, write down the cause, and verify the fix.

I am Yasas Pasindu Fernando, an Associate Software Engineer / Backend Java Developer at IdeaHub (Pvt) Ltd. in Nugegoda. Day to day I work on REST APIs for digital banking: payments, fund transfers, accounts, transactions, exchange rates, and status or error handling. I also help with application support when defects show up in SIT, UAT, or production-related investigations.

Before the associate role I was a Software Engineer Trainee at the same company (April 2025 – October 2025). Those dates are exact. I do not inflate tenure.

Outside work I build and maintain Yasaboy.com, a local-first browser tools platform. My final-year research project was Smart AAC, a trilingual, offline-first assistive communication prototype for Sri Lanka. I have also taught Java part-time, which keeps fundamentals sharp.

For banking or FinTech roles, treat Java backend and integration investigation as the main signal. Flutter, PHP/MySQL, and client-side tooling are supporting breadth, not a claim that every surface is equally senior.
